Celtic leading race to sign Belgium international defender – Galatasaray also closely linked

Scottish Premier League giants Celtic have stepped up their pursuit of Manchester City defender Jason Denayer.

Galatasaray have also been closely linked with a move for the versatile defender in recent weeks.

Celtic are keen to bolster their defensive options after crashing out of the UEFA Champions League against AEK on Tuesday evening.

According to the Belgium outlet Nieuwsblad, Celtic are now leading the race to sign Denayer this summer.

Per the source, Torino and Galatasaray are also interested in the 23-year-old.

Denayer spent last season on loan with the Turkish Super Lig giants and is understood to be keen on a return to Istanbul.

The Belgium international is expected to leave City this summer after failing to break into Pep Guardiola’s squad.

City are back in action this weekend when they host Huddersfield

Meanwhile, Celtic could be about to lose Denayer’s international teammate Dedryck Boyata who has been linked with a move to Sevilla.
