Celtic are reportedly casting their net wide as the summer transfer window gains momentum, with the latest speculation linking the Scottish champions to young Besiktas midfielder Demir Tıknaz. This interest comes despite manager Brendan Rodgers’ stated desire for “change” within his double-winning squad, particularly in the attacking department.
While the Hoops are actively seeking a new striker to compete with Adam Idah – who is aware he’ll face increased competition for game time next season – and with Daizen Maeda linked to a move to Fenerbahçe, the need for a new frontman appears imperative. However, the emerging link to Tıknaz concerns the midfield, a position where Celtic currently boasts considerable depth.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola is reporting that Celtic has already “initiated contact” with Rio Ave, where Tıknaz spent last season on loan in the Portuguese top flight, regarding a potential summer transfer.
Tıknaz remains a Besiktas player, but Rio Ave holds an option to purchase him permanently for €5 million. Crucially, the deadline for exercising this option is next Tuesday, meaning the Portuguese side must act swiftly if they wish to secure the 20-year-old’s long-term services. Rio Ave reportedly values Tıknaz at £8.4 million, suggesting they could make a significant profit if they acquire him and then sell him on to Celtic.
The Hoops, however, face competition for the young midfielder’s signature, with French Ligue 1 side Lille also reportedly tracking the player.
Tıknaz is currently on international duty with the Turkish national team, as they prepare for friendly matches against the USMNT on Saturday and Mexico on Tuesday. His involvement with the national squad highlights his growing profile and potential.
