Celtic's latest signing Nadir Ciftci receives six-match suspension for biting

Celtic’s latest transfer Nadir Çiftçi will miss his new clubs opening six Scottish Premiership matches after receiving a suspension for biting an opposition player according to the BBC.

Çiftçi joined Celtic earlier this month for £1.5 million from Dundee United. The Scottish Premier League champions have decided not to appeal against the ban.

The incident took place in May during a Dundee derby on the final day of last season.

The Turkish international denied the offence but was found guilty of ‘excessive misconduct’ by the Scottish Football Association.

Çiftçi was the fourth top scorer in the Scottish Premier League last season netting 12 goals in 34 league games for Dundee United.

The Turkish international has previously played for Portsmouth, Kayserispor in Turkey and NAC Breda in Holland. Çiftçi joined Dundee on a free transfer from NAC Breda last summer

Çiftçi was born in the Netherlands but represents Turkey due to being of Turkish heritage.
