Cenk Tosun Joins Liverpool Ace Mo Salah & Man United Striker In Garth Crooks Team of the Week

BBC football pundit Garth Brooks named Everton star striker Cenk Tosun in his team of the week.

Tosun joined a three-man forward line including Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Salah scored four-goals and even provided an assist in the 5-0 win over Watford while Lukaku found the back of the net in the Red Devils 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton.

Tosun meanwhile scored a brace in the Toffees 2-1 win over Stoke City which was their first away win of 2018.

The 26-year-old managed to score twice with three shots on target.

Crooks gave his reasoning behind Tosun’s inclusion.

The football pundit admitted that he was initially not convinced by the Turkey international but praised his ‘natural striker’s instincts’ in scoring the goals.

He did however, underlined that Tosun will have to keep performing at this level consistently.

Crooks wrote the following about including Tosun in the team of the week:

“I haven’t been totally convinced by Tosun’s performances since he arrived at Goodison Park and I rather suspect neither has Sam Allardyce. To suddenly single Tosun out for special praise is a sure indication of the manager’s relief that the striker [who wasn’t cheap] is now hitting the back of the net on a more regular basis.

His two goals against Stoke, in appalling conditions, smacked of a natural striker’s instincts. Allardyce now suggests 40 points allows Everton the luxury of building for next season. I suggest those building blocks centre on Tosun scoring 20 goals otherwise both manager and striker could end up on Everton’s cutting-room floor.

Did you know? The Turkey international netted his double from just three shots on target at the Bet365 Stadium.”

Tosun now has four goals in his last three games for the Toffees, scoring against Burnley, Brighton and Stoke City.

The powerful forward has joined the Turkey national team for games against Ireland and Montenegro.
