Cenk Tosun Reacts To Everton Defeat, Reveals What Has Changed

Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday in the Premier League despite taking an early lead.

Cenk Tosun started after being dropped for the last four games in favor of Oumar Niasse.

The Turkey international ended up scoring his first goal for the Toffees since making his move from Besiktas in January.

Tosun revealed after the game that he was disappointed with the result but pleased with the fact he opened his account.

“I’m very disappointed because of the result but I am also happy because of the goal,” said Tosun speaking to evertonfc.com. “I will keep working and hopefully will score in the next game (against Brighton at Goodison next Saturday) as well.”

Tosun revealed that it has been ‘difficult’ adapting to Premier League football but that he has settled, feels sharper and that his goal will hopefully be the first of many.

“It’s good for my confidence because England is a tough league. It was not easy to settle in here but now I feel better, I feel sharper and I hope I will play better and score more goals in the next few weeks,” he added.

“In the first weeks it was difficult for me but now I feel more used to it and it’s getting better all the time.”

The 26-year-old underlined that Everton could have scored two or three after his opening goal but that Burnley were the deserved winners at the end of the day.

Tosun added: “We started well, we scored the first goal, and maybe after the first goal we could have scored the second and third.

“We couldn’t score it and after half-time Burnley put pressure on us and deserved their goals.

“It was not our best performance but we will keep working on it, forget this game and just focus on the Brighton game.”

The Toffees will take on Brighton next at Goodison Park.

Tosun will be hoping to get his fourth start this season but Oumar Niasse will be competing for the spot.

The striker has found the back of the net 15 times in all competitions this season if you count the number of times he scored for Besiktas before making the move.
