Liverpool suffered a pre-season defeat at the hands of their rivals Chelsea earlier this morning.
Emre Can was left out the squad after beginning pre-season training this week. The 22-year-old was given an extended break by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after featuring for the Germany national team during Euro 2016.
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill scored the games only goal in the 10th minutes while Cesc Fabregas managed to receive a red-card in the 70th for a dangerous tackle.
Lazar Markovic who spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce was given playing time, while Alberto Moreno, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings all featured.
Liverpool take on Arsenal in their opening game of the Premier League season while Chelsea host West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
