Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo will not make the Nigeria national team Olympic squad.
Omeruo and Wilfred Ndidid will not be selected for the Olympic Games Nigeria squad in Rio de Janeiro and fellow Chelsea teammate John Obi Mikel will not join the team either.
“Omeruo wanted to play but he has not sorted his contract issue with Chelsea who has gotten a new Coach Antonio Conte,” a source told Goal.
Omeruo has also been left out of the pre-season squad that has travelled to Austria according to the official club website.
Omeruo is expected to join Besiktas later this week after agreeing terms to a loan deal with a future buyout option.
The Nigerian international defender is no stranger to Turkey having played on loan for Kasimpasa last season.
The Istanbul giants are expected to cover his €1.1 million salary over the course of next season.
The 22-year-old defender has been loaned out by Chelsea for the past few seasons and is almost certain to spend next season on another temporary move.
