Chelsea legend Didier Drogba backs former teammate Mikel calling for the Turkish league to be suspended following the coronavirus outbreak

Didier Drogba has come out in support of his former Chelsea teammate John Obi Mikel after he publically called for the Turkish league to be suspended following the coronavirus outbreak.

Mikel posted an Instagram post which urged the Turkish authorities to put the league on hold.

Chelsea legend Drogba showed solidarity with his former teammate.

Drogba wrote the following comment: “Words of wisdoms.”

The Trabzonspor match against Basaksehir did go ahead and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Mikel did not feature for the Claret-Blues in the top of the table clash.

Trabzonspor and Basaksehir who are joint top of the table separated by goal difference went head to head at the Medical Park stadium.

Mikel recently put out a photograph remembering his time spent with Drogba and another former Chelsea teammate Saloman Kalou.

Mikel spent 11 seasons at Chelsea joining the Premier League outfit two-years after Drogba – in 2006.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a brief stint in China and Middlesbrough before joining Trabzonspor in 2019.

Drogba also spent time in Turkey.

The 42-year-old enjoyed an 18-month month at Galatasaray where he won the Super Lig, Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup.

He remains an influential figure in Turkey to this day and regularly connects with his Turkish fans on social media.
