Chelsea legend Didier Drogba offered sporting director role by Turkish league giants
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba announced that he will retire from playing football at the end of the season.
The Phoenix Rising star revealed that he thinks next year will be his last season.
“I think next year will be my last season,” he told RMC. “There comes a time when you have to stop.
“I need time for my other projects. It’s good to play, but at 39, it holds me back a bit.”
Drogba could still have a future in football if he accepts Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek’s latest proposal.
Ozbek has reportedly made Drogba an offer to become sporting director next season.
The Lions president reportedly held talks with Drogba over the proposed role and the former Ivory Coast international is said to be ‘considering’ the job according to Fotomac.
Per the source, bringing Drogba in as sporting director will be one of Ozbek’s major pledges ahead of the presidential elections in May.

The 38-year-old also enjoyed a special May in Turkey winning the 2013-14 league title at Galatasaray.
Drogba also won the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup, establishing himself as a cult figure among Galatasaray fans.
At Chelsea Drogba won four Premier League titles and the first Champions League in the history of the club.
The Lions are currently first in the Super Lig on 26 points after 11 games.
