Chelsea loanee plays full 90 minutes in defeat to league leaders

Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo played the full 90 minutes during Alanyaspor’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday.

The Nigeria international has established himself as a first team regular at Alanyaspor and started Sunday morning’s clash in central defence.

Basaksehir took the lead after 38 minutes via a strike from Bosnia international Edin Visca. Mustafa Pektemek doubled the home side’s lead shortly after the break.

Alanyaspor did give themselves hope following a goal in the 57th minute but were unable to find the equaliser.

Omeruo’s side slipped down to 15th place with 25 points after 23 games. Alanyaspor are however five points clear of the drop zone.

The newly promoted side have conceded just three goal in their last four league games with Omeruo at the heart of their defence.

The Nigerian defender has made 16 appearances for Alanyaspor so far this season.

Alanyaspor take on the Istanbul giant Fenerbahce in the Turkish League next weekend.
