Chelsea Star Explains Why Eden Hazard Will Be Better Team-Mate Than Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil

Olivier Giroud completed his move from Arsenal to Chelsea over the winter transfer window.

The French international believes he will have a better on-pitch relationship with his new No 10 partner Eden Hazard than he did with former Gunners teammate Mesut Ozil.

Giroud played alongside Ozil since the playmaker of Turkish origin joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013.

The pair won three FA Cup titles together during their time as teammates at the North London based outfit.

Giroud does however, believe Hazard’s style of play will suit him more.

After enjoying his full debut alongside Hazard in the 3-0 win over West Brom, Giroud admitted the Belgium international’s closer position makes life easy compared to previous No 10s he has played with.

“It’s simple to have a good understanding with Hazard because he smells the game, he smells the football,” Giroud said.

“Even with Pedro, Willian or whoever else plays number ten we always try tactically to have a good understanding. ‘We need to work on the relationship in training and then to do it in the game.

“That’s what the boss asks us and it’s easy for me because the two number tens play closer than those I might have played with in the past. ‘Eden and I – he could have assisted me and I could have scored against West Brom, but hopefully in the next game.”

Giroud has one assist in two appearances for the reigning Premier League champions since joining in January.

The 31-year-old had 105 goals and 41 assists in 253 games for the Gunners in all competitions before making the Chelsea switch.
