Chelsea transfer news: International defender leaves Blues on loan deal, also pens new contract

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has agreed to join Turkish Super League side Kasimpasa on a season-long loan.

The Turkish club confirmed the news on their official website on Sunday morning.

Omeruo is no stranger to the Turkish league. The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons playing in Turkey.

The Nigeria international spent the 2015-16 season at Kasimpasa and the 2016-17 season on loan at Alanyaspor.

Despite leaving Chelsea on loan, Omeruo still sees his long-term future at the London-based club. The 23-year-old put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the Blues before leaving on loan.

Omeruo joined Chelsea from Standard back in 2012 but is yet to make a single appearance for the Blues senior side.

Chelsea recorded a 2-0 victory over Everton on Sunday. Kasimpasa meanwhile suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Akhisar.

Omeruo made 26 Super League appearances for Alanyaspor last season.

The Blues take on Leicester City in the Premier League next weekend.
