Besiktas have received keen interest in star striker Cenk Tosun this season.

Sources close to Besiktas have revealed to Turkish-Football that several sides including Newcastle United and Everton have been scouting Tosun.

The reigning Super Lig champions do not however, want to lose the 26-year-old on the cheap.

Besiktas will not consider offers under £20 million for the striker in January in a bid to ward of potential buyers.

The Istanbul giants want to keep Tosun at the club this season with the view to sell over the summer.

The club feel Tosun is too important to lose half way through the season without a replacement being found.

The striker has four goals and two assists in the Champions League this season. Besiktas have qualified for the Last 16 as Group G leaders and are firmly in the Super Lig title race.

Reports of Newcastle offering Mitrovic in a part-exchange deal were false. Besiktas did not receive such an offer.

In fact no official bids have actually been launched as of yet. Talks have taken place via Tosun’s representatives but not at club level.

Club official Ahmet Urkmezgil even confirmed that Manchester City sent club officials to the Champions League clash against Porto to watch the Turkish international.

The Citizens were among several clubs to send scouts although City were the only side he mentioned in name.

“Manchester City came to watch Cenk Tosun,” Urkmezgil was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“I’m still ecstatic from the result so bare with me I can’t remember all the teams who came off the top of my head.”

Interest from City does seem bizarre considering their depth upfront but one thing is for sure, Tosun will be on several clubs shortlist over the winter transfer window.
