Fenerbahce have made an enquiry for Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata according to reports in Turkey.
Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik claim that Mata is on recently appointed sporting director Damien Comolli’s shortlist.
Per the source, Comolli has contacted United regarding a summer move.
The Yellow Canaries are waiting for a response before launching an official bid.
The Istanbul giants have a long term interest in the Spanish international who has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
The 30-year-old has yet to be offered an extension on his current deal and will be a free agent next summer unless he signs an extension.
Mata scored three goals and provided seven assists in all competitions this season.
The Spain international has played regularly under Jose Mourinho for the past two seasons, despite being sold to United while the Portuguese manager was in charge at Chelsea.
Comolli hopes to use his close ties to Premier League clubs from his time at Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool to sign players from England over the transfer window.
Fenerbahce plan to make major changes to the transfer policy and direction of the club under the leadership of Ali Koc who won the presidential election last week.
