Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic did little for Danish-Swedish relations when he wrapped his hands around Denmark international Simon Kjaer’s neck during the 2-1 defeat against Fenerbahce on Thursday evening.
Ibrahimovic replaced Paul Pogba on 29 minutes who was taken off due to injury and it was not long before he made an impact – for all the wrong reasons.
The former Swedish international had an altercation with Kjaer which involved him holding the defender by the neck.
Fortunately for Ibrahimovic the referee either did not spot it or did not deem the incident worthy of a booking.
Kjaer was not very impressed with Ibrahimovic’s behaviour after the game and told Swedish channel 9 that the striker is arrogant.
“I actually didn’t hear what he said but I do know that he wasn’t happy,” Kjaer said.
“But that’s the way I know him from the pitch. He is the kind of chest-puffing player, who is arrogant. That is his way of playing.”
Kjaer also stated that he was not really surprised or all that bothered about what happened either putting it down to down to just being a part of the game.
“It is a part of football and I don’t take it too seriously. It is not the first time I play against him and I know how he reacts. It is not a problem. It is, like I said, a part of the game,” he added.
