Ba did however, underline that the result was only possible due to the fans.

“If we did not have the fans we could not have achieved that,” he added.

Beşiktaş fans filled the stands of the Atatürk Olympic stadium, 63,324 supporters turned out for the second-leg.

The turnout was one of the highest in Europa League history.

The Black Eagles have struggled to draw a large crowd this season due to protests against the compulsory Passolig e-ticketing system.

Traditional paper tickets were permitted for the return-leg against Liverpool.

Ba has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Beşiktaş this season.

The Senegalese international is the joint leading scorer in the league alongside Bursaspor striker Fernandao who also has 14 goals.
