Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has confirmed that he has entered talks with his club over a new contract.
“It’s clear that I’m very happy with the club, that I love Atletico Madrid,” Simeone was quoted as saying in Goal.
“We are trying to continue this project started three years ago and we are evaluating the two parties with the same enthusiasm and the same inclination.”
The Argentinian coaches contract runs until 2017 but Atleti want to keep on the successful manager.
Atleti are reported to be offering a lucrative seven-year deal to keep Simeone at the club.
Simeone has been one of the Rojiblancos most successful managers over recent years.
The 44-year-old coach has won the Europa League, European Super Cup, Copa del Rey, La Liga and led Atleti to the Champions League final.
Arda Turan became the first Turkish international to win the La Liga with Atleti last season and has established himself as a key member of Simeone’s side.
