Digiturk extends exclusive Turkish Super League rights

Digiturk have extended their exclusive Turkish Super League broadcasting rights until the end of the 2016-17 season.

The Turkish satellite television provider which was founded in 1999, has been showing the Turkish League exclusively since 2001 via its affiliated sports channel LigTV since 2001.

LigTV airs every league game and additionally hosts football related programs.

The Turkish league viewing rights are currently the sixth most valuable in Europe and rapidly catching up with the continents elite.

Digiturk pay approximately $450 million per season to show the Turkish League a 40 fold rise in the last 16 years.

The broadcasting service has also extended their exclusive rights to broadcast the Turkish Basketball league by three years and the Turkish Airlines Euroleague by five years.

Digiturk has been pushing for overseas coverage of the Turkish League and recently struck a two-year deal with MP & Silva to distribute a weekly highlights package for the Turkish Super League.

The company hold the rights to distribute highlights of the nine weekly Turkish Super League games along with post-match programs, league standings, fixture lists, English commentary and an hour long program each week.
