€36m Chelsea Move For Manolas Could Result In Arsenal Facing Stiff Competition For Bundesliga Star

Chelsea have been closely linked with a move for Roma defender Kostas Manolas.

The Blues are prepared to meet the Greek international’s €36m release clause according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Per the source, the Blues are willing to pay Manolas €3 million-per-season.

Calciomercato claim that the Italian giants will target Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu if they lose Soyuncu.

The report claims that Soyuncu has been a transfer target for months but that Arsenal are favorites in the race for the defender.

Roma sporting director Monchi will however, try to persuade the 22-year-old into making the move.

Soyuncu’s former Altinordu teammate Cengiz Under ended up signing Roma.

Monchi managed to convince Under to sign for the Serie A outfit over Manchester City.

Soyuncu and Under are close friends and are currently on holiday together.

Turkish-Football reported Soyuncu’s agent Mustafa Dogru saying Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is keen on his client but there has not been official talks.

Dogru also revealed that the defender wants a Premier League move and that there is interest from Spain and Italy.

“Reports claiming Caglar or I saying a deal has been struck with Arsenal are false,” Dogru said.

“Arsenal have not held official talks with us, Sven Mislintat is keen on him but we are currently not in direct negotiations with the club.

“We have made it clear to Freiburg that Caglar wants to leave over the summer.

“Clubs from England, Spain and Italy have expressed an interest but they have to reach an agreement with Freiburg first.

“Freiburg are happy to go ahead with a transfer but only for the right price.

“Playing in the Premier League is what most footballers aim for.

“But that is not to say he would not consider a move to the La Liga.”
