Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal has given the green light to his agent to find a new club according to AMK.
The Turkish international is reported to have hinted that he will leave the club if his services are no longer required.
“I just try to do my job, if I am not wanted I am a professional and will do what is necessary for my career,” Topal was quoted as saying.
Turkish newspaper Radikal claimed that Tottenham offered €6 million for the Turkish international however, Fenerbahce manager Vitor Pereira was reported to have wanted to keep the former Valencia man in Istanbul.
The defensive midfielder nicknamed ‘spiderman’ has just a year remaining on his contract with the Yellow Canaries and has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Topal’s agent Batur Altıparmak also stated that Topal will remain with the Istanbul giants for the 2015-16 season.
“Mehmet is likely to be at Fenerbahçe next season,” Altıparmak told Turkish-football.com.
However, the latest developments suggest that a summer move could still be on the cards.
Fenerbahce won the opening game of the season 2-0 against Eskisehirspor at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.
