Group C: Emre Can could start for Liverpool against Real Madrid [divider]
Liverpool take on reigning Champions League champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabao stadium in Group C on Match Day 4.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is expected to make a number of changes going into the game.
“I see we have spent an awful lot of money on players to come in and now we have to give them an opportunity to perform,” Rodgers said in lead up to the Real Madrid clash.
“If, at the end of this cycle of games, they haven’t performed, they can never say they haven’t been given a chance.
“For me, whether it is Real Madrid, Newcastle or Chelsea, I am putting my faith in these players to perform.
“That is not being pragmatic. It is why you have a squad to come and get results. Whatever happens, we will look to get a result on Saturday.”
Can could start in midfield to provide protection in front of the defence and break up Real Madrid attacks.
The 20-year-old recently recovered from an injury which had ruled him out for six weeks.
Can did not feature in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss against Newcastle last weekend. The young midfielder has only played 211 minutes for the Reds this season.
