Emre Can loses first Europa League final following Reds defeat against Sevilla

Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat against Sevilla in the Europa League final at the St Jacob Park yesterday.

Sevilla became the first side to win the tournament for the third consecutive season coming from behind to score three times in the second half.

Emre Can started for the Reds in what was his first appearance in a European competition final.

Can had previously been part of the Bayern Munich squad that lost to Chelsea in the Champions League final and the 2013 champions.

The Germany international of Turkish origin was unable to prevent his side losing on the night and was partly to blame for conceding the third goal.

The Reds have finished the season without a trophy and Jurgen Klopp is still without a victory in a European competition final.
