Emre Can Reveals First Message Jurgen Klopp Gave To Liverpool Team After Taking Over

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has yet to win any silverware since taking over as manager but one player in particular believes he has done a fantastic job.

Emre Can waxed lyrical about the German manager in his most recent interview for UEFA.

The midfielder of Turkish origin revealed that Klopp has restored faith among the fans and the city that the Reds can win trophies again.

The 24-year-old revealed the first message Klopp gave the team after being appointed manager was that they all had to ‘believe again’.

“I remember when he first came to Liverpool, when he gave his first interview, he said, ‘We have to believe again’,” Can told UEFA.

“And I think the fans and the city bought into that message: everyone has faith that we can win trophies again, which is very important. Now people believe in this team again.

“He’s been here for two-and-a-half years now, more or less, and everyone in the squad has developed a lot and we’ve progressed as a team too. So, we can definitely say that he’s helped the club a lot so far.”

Can spoke fondly of Klopp. The manager has also been full of praise for the central midfielder.

Klopp and Can both speak German, they appear to get along well.

It makes you wonder why Can is even considering leaving the club.

The midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs a new contract deal.

Juventus have been closely linked with Can but he has not ruled out the possibility of staying on – neither has Klopp.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Liverpool ace.

The Reds take on Porto tonight in the Champions League Last 16 second-leg tie at Anfield. Can is available for the tie after missing the 5-0 win in Portugal due to injury.
