“Emre Can should be captain” – Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Germany international’s display following Watford draw
Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw at Vicarage Road by Watford FC in the opening game of the Premier League season.
Emre Can started for the Reds and provided an assist for Liverpool’s first goal. The 23-year-old flicked the ball around the Watford defence directly into Mane’s path. The Senegal international went onto put the ball into the back of the net.
Unfortunately, Liverpool conceded a last second point costing them the win. Can played the full 90 minutes on the day in midfield alongside Henderson and Wijnaldum.

Emre Can was better than Henderson & Wijnaldum combined

However, there were some who were not as impressed with Can’s performance on the day.
Unfortunately I agree but also identify the defensive problem in the use of the slow #EmreCan and the not defensive #Hendo at the same team

Also thought that while Wijnaldum and Henderson were abject, Emre Can used his athleticism well. Maybe not his brain at points, but…

Emre Can played well, but only in the second half like most of them. Our midfield is a major concern at times, but defence comes first.
