Euro giants plot shock move for Man United legend Wayne Rooney despite £50m offer from China

Besiktas are preparing a shock move for Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney according to reports from Turkey.

Fanatik claim that the Black Eagles are plotting a loan move for the 31-year-old forward.

Per the source, Besiktas president Fikret Orman is keen on making a marquee signing to coincide with winning the league title and a third star.

The Istanbul giants will win the championship for the second season running if they avoid defeat against Gaziantepspor over the weekend.

Besiktas will lift the title for the 15th time and earn the right to a third star on their shirt in the process.

Orman also has plans to boost the club’s profile in the far-east and feels that signing Rooney would also bring commercial success and help develop the Besiktas brand outside of Turkey.

Rooney does enjoy the odd holiday on the Turkish Mediterranean coast and has been spotted in Antalya with his family in the past.

Rooney’s son Kai has been seen wearing a Galatasaray kit in the past as well.

We are not quite sure whether a villa on the Turkish riviera and a few football kits for his kids will be enough to convince Rooney considering he has £50 million proposals to consider from China according to the Daily Mail.

Rooney has no shortage of offers on the table.

“There’s lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad,” he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The experienced forward has however, ruled out joining any Premier League club other than Everton.

“I’ve played for two Premier League clubs and they’re the only two Premier League clubs I’ll play for,” Rooney told Sky Sports.

Per the source, United are happy for Rooney to stay on but are also prepared to sell this summer due to his high wages.

United have sold high profile players to Turkey recently. The Red Devils offloaded Robin van Persie and Nani to Fenerbahce in the summer of 2015.
