Galatasaray are not prepared to pay £4.2 million over the course of next season for Liverpool veteran Lucas Leiva according to Fotomac.

The Turkish sports newspaper report that the Lions will not match Lucas’ demands.

Unless Lucas agrees to a lower fee the deal will be off.

Lucas reportedly wants a £1.5 million sign-on fee which when added to his salary demands would result in him netting £4.2 million next season.

The 30-year-old also reportedly wants a guarantee of his wages being paid in pounds sterling.

Galatasaray have been keen on signing Lucas over the past season but have Financial Fair Play targets to consider.

Lucas meanwhile is out of contract at the end of the season and could find himself as a free agent if he does not sort out a new deal with the Reds or another club.

The Brazilian midfielder has made 342 (Transfermarkt) appearances for Liverpool and is currently the longest serving player in the squad.

The midfielder will end a 10 year spell at the end of the season if he does go onto leave Liverpool.
