Liverpool news: Euro giants prepare move for star midfielder if no contract agreed
Serie A giants Juventus are set to step up their pursuit of Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can in January.
The 23-year-old could be on his way out of Liverpool for free next summer unless Liverpool can strike a new deal with the former Bayer Leverkusen man.
Can has under ten months remaining on his contract while negotiations with the Merseyside based club have stalled in recent months. According to the Daily Star, Can is unwilling to pen a new deal unless Liverpool include a release clause in the new contract.
Meanwhile, Italian sports reporter Niccolo Ceccarini has revealed during an interview with Tutto Mercato Web Radio that Juve are keeping tabs on Can.
“Emre Can? Juventus are monitoring him. The press [for a deal] will start soon if the player does not renew his contract with Liverpool,” Ceccarini told Tutto Mercato Web Radio.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star was rested during Liverpool’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City on Tuesday night. The 23-year-old is expected to return to Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven when the Reds face Leicester in the Premier League this weekend.
