Everton have not given up hopes of signing Besiktas playmaker Oguzhan Ozyakup despite the 25-year-old being set to sign a contract extension.
Ozyakup has under three-months remaining on his contract with the Black Eagles, however recently stated that he will put pen-to-paper on a new deal.
“I will sign a new deal with Besiktas,” Ozyakup was quoted as saying by Fanatik.
“Even if I am to leave after signing, I will do so with my clubs best interests at heart.”
A source close to Besiktas has revealed to Turkish-Football.com that Everton are still in contact with the club despite news of Ozyakup’s new deal. Per the source, the midfielder could end up signing a new deal and leaving the club in this summer.
January signing Cenk Tosun played alongside Ozyakup during his time at Besiktas. The Turkey international midfielder will have a £10.5 million release clause included in his new deal.
Meanwhile, Turkish outlet Aksam has stated that Everton are set to face competition from Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund.
Ozyakup has registered 27 goals and 49 assists in 214 appearances for Besiktas since joining from Arsenal.
