Everton and Benfica are interested in signing 17-year-old Turkish midfielder Can Uzun from Nurnberg, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

He is considered to be a top talent and both Everton and Benfica are keen to sign him.

Uzun is still young, but he has the potential to be a star at the highest level and is playing first team football – albeit in the German second tear.

Fenerbahce are also in the race and have already made a formal offer.

The Yellow Canaries want to bring in Uzun as a replacement for Arda Guler who joined Real Madrid.

The Turkish giants have a history of developing talent and would give Uzun an important role in the team.

Fellow Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Beşiktaş are also in the race for Uzun.

Uzun was born in Germany but is of Turkish descent and represents the Crescent-Stars at U21 international level.

Senior Turkish national team manager Vincenzo Montella plans to call Uzun up to the A side.

Montella has made contact with Uzun but he will not play for the A side in the Euro 2024 qualifier games against Croatia and Latvia this week.
