Everton Face Competition From Arsenal For Ozyakup, Turkish Giants Respond To Transfer Talk

Oguzhan Ozyakup faces an uncertain future at Besiktas as he approaches the end of his contract.

Ozyakup’s contract situation has seen Everton plot a move for the midfielder.

Turkish-Football reported that the Toffees have been scouting Besiktas star and are considering making an offer if they fail to land Arsenal contract rebel Jack Wilshere.

Speaking of Arsenal, Ozyakup is a former academy players of the North London based outfit.

The Gunners have also been keeping tabs on the 2009 Youth FA Cup winner.

Turkish-Football have reported Arsenal sending scouts to keep tabs on Ozyakup throughout the season.

The Milliyet meanwhile reported that the North London based outfit made an offer for Ozyakup in January which was turned down.

The Black Eagles do not want to lose the Turkey international on a free transfer but have been sending mixed messages about his current deal.

Besiktas are under the impression there is an agreement behind the scenes over a contract extension.

There has however, been no official confirmation of a new deal. As things stand Ozyakup will be a free agent.

Now that could change between now and the end of the campaign.

Fanatik claim the 24-year-old wants €3m per season and a €2.5m signing on fee which Besiktas have been reluctant to accept.

The Istanbul giants reportedly are ready to agree to €2.5m per season but talks are ongoing.

The Turkish international was part of the Arsenal side that won the 2008 Youth FA Cup along with Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.

Ozyakup left Arsenal for Besiktas five years ago on a £500,000 transfer.

The midfielder has gone onto win back-to-back league titles at Besiktas and played an important role in his side becoming the first Turkish side to secure a place in the Champions League Last 16 as group leaders.
