Everton face competition for Croatian defensive target from Turkish league giants

Everton have been closely linked with a move for Domagoj Vida according to Calciomercato.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman will lose Phil Jagielka at the end of the season and will need to target a defensive replacement.

Koeman would also have cover for the right-back position, with Seamus Coleman out with a lengthy injury after breaking his foot.

The Croatia international is a centre-back, but he is a versatile defender and able to play as a right-back as well.

Furthermore, Koeman would need a player to fill the right-back position, with Seamus Coleman certain to remain out on the sidelines for a lengthy period with a broken foot.

The Premier League outfit could however, face competition from Trabzonspor.

A source close to the club revealed to Turkish-Football that Trabzonspor have been keeping tabs on Vida and are plotting a summer move for the Croatia international.

Trabzonspor have the best defensive record in Europe this year having conceded just three goals in 2017, less than Manchester United and Bayern Munich who are second having let in just four goals.

Hurriyet report that Galatasaray are also in the race for Vida and that head coach Igor Tudor has close ties to the centre-back, being a former Croatian international.

Vida has been playing for Dynamo Kiev since 2012, and has played 82 league matches for the Ukrainian giants.

The 27-year-old has played 20 league matches and has two goals to his name this season.
