Everton have stepped up their interest in Turkey international playmaker Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The 25-year-old’s contract with Besiktas expires at the end of the season.
A source close to the Istanbul giants has revealed to Turkish-Football that talks between Everton and Ozyakup’s agent are ongoing.
The former Arsenal man is keen on a move back to the Premier League following five years in Istanbul.
Ozyakup was in top form over the weekend during Besiktas’ 1-0 win over Alanyaspor.
The star midfielder linked up well with Everton’s £26m January signing Cenk Tosun making him an even more attractive proposition for the Toffees.
Ozyakup came up through the ranks at Arsenal and made two League Cup appearances for the north London club joining Besiktas in 2012.
Per the source, Everton scouts will be present at Besiktas’ clash with Goztepe.
Everton are back in action this weekend when they host their bitter rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park. Sam Allardyce’s side were comfortably beaten by a 3-1 scoreline at the hands of Man City last weekend.
