Everton Loanee Henry Onyekuru Unused Sub As Galatasaray Lose Super Cup Final Against Akhisar

Super Lig champions Galatasaray suffered a defeat on penalties against Turkish Cup winner Akhisar in the Super Cup Final at the Konya Büyükşehir Belediye stadium on Sunday.

Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru was expected to start or at least feature against Akhisar but could only watch from the bench as his side lost their first professional game of the season.

Onyekuru has yet to make his official debut for the Lions as a result of not being used against the Akigolar.

Seleznov put Akhisar ahead after just five minutes and the Manisa based side led for most of the game until Eren Derdiyok equalised with just 10 minutes remaining to take the game to extra-time.

The final went to a penalty shootout after neither side were able to break the deadlock.

Galatasaray ended up losing 5-4 on penalties.

Akhisar Belediyespor ended up winning the Super Cup for the first time as a result.

The Turkish league will kick off on Friday, Onyekuru will have to wait until the Ankaragucu game to make his official debut for the Lions.
