Everton Manager Takes Swipe At Lacazette Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

Everton take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday in the Premier League hoping to end an unbeaten away run stretching back to 1996.

Toffees manager Sam Allardyce took a swipe at Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette when explaining his own striker situation.

Big Sam underlined that the ‘goal-factor’ is what he finds important when selecting a striker.

Allardyce underlined that a No. 1 choice striker must be scoring double figures when explaining his selection choice regarding Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun.

The Everton manager did however, point out that even at Arsenal who are a side known for playing more attacking football and providing strikers with more opportunities strikers have struggled.

Allardyce mentioned that Lacazette has yet to enter double figures yet in terms of goals.

“But it’s the goal-factor,” Allardyce said at his pre match press conference.

“Your goal-factor, if you are No.1 in that position, has to be in double figures. Even if you look at Arsenal now, Lacazette has only scored nine and Arsenal, with all due respect to us, will provide you with more chances than us.

“So if he improves his goal-scoring ratio … because he’s certainly got the physical attributes, but he has got to improve his overall game technically and he’s got to find a way of finding more goals in the box when we get to that level.

“We have got to provide a better service for him to score those goals.”

Lacazette is expected to start against Everton, the France international has nine goals and four assists in all competitions for the Gunners this term.

Tosun was starved of service in his first two games against Tottenham and West Brom after joining from Besiktas.

Niasse replaced him against Leicester City mid-week but was unable to find the back of the net either.

Allardyce has not confirmed whether he will start Niasse again or revert to his £27 million January signing Tosun against Arsenal.
