UEFA revealed on Thursday that the Ataturk Olympic Stadium will host the 2020 Champions League final, in Istanbul, Turkey.

The stadium was announced as the host by the UEFA Executive Committee, who met in Kiev today ahead of Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The city has hosted the UEFA Champions League Final 2005, UEFA Cup Final 2009, 2010 World Basketball Championships, FIFA U20 World Cup 2013 and other World Championships in various sports.

Turkey will also host the 2019 UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul.

The country has also bid for Euro 2024.

Everton star Cenk Tosun revealed that he has no doubt Istanbul is the right city for the 2020 Champions League final and that Turkey is capable of hosting Euro 2024.

So that leaves Tosun just enough time to help guide the Toffees into the Champions League next season and reach the final the following year in Istanbul.

“With passionate, knowledgeable fans, cutting edge modern stadia, a truly fascinating history and a welcoming culture, Turkey offers a unique environment to both play and watch football in.
