Everton urged to offload £26m star striker in January after disappointing start to season

Daily Turkish newspaper HaberTurk has urged Everton to let Cenk Tosun join Besiktas on loan for free in January.

The Istanbul giants have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, just 11 months after selling him to Everton for £26 million.

Tosun has struggled to recapture the form he showed at Besiktas during his spell at Everton.

The Turkey international has scored just one goal so far this season for club and country and has recently been dropped from Everton’s starting eleven by Marco Silva in recent weeks.

Tosun has subsequently been linked with a move back to Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas. The Black Eagles are hoping to sign Tosun on a six-month loan deal in January.

HaberTurk believes the deal will be beneficial to both Everton and Besiktas.

Per the source, the Turkish outlet states that Everton will be able to recoup most of the money they spent on Tosun in the summer if the striker returns to Besiktas and recaptures his past form.

However, the 27-year-old has recently stated that he is happy at Everton and is not looking for a move back to Turkey anytime soon.

Tosun started for Turkey during their 2-0 defeat to Russia on Sunday evening.
