Ex Arsenal striker involved in Turkish giants attempt to sign Man Utd star

Lukas Podolski has been involved in negotiations to help persuade Bastian Schweinsteiger to join Galatasaray according to the Turkish newspaper AMK.

The report states that the former Arsenal man has been asked to help persuade his compatriot to make the move to the Turkish Super League.

Podolski is currently the only Germany international player playing in Turkey after Mario Gomez left Besiktas earlier this summer. The experinced forward won the Turkish Cup in his first season at the club scoring the winning goal in the final against arch rivals Fenerbahce.

AMK go onto state that Galatasaray want to sign Schweinsteiger on loan with an option to buy included in the deal. The 32-year-old still has another two years remaining on his United contract and the Sun claim he would be set to earn £14 million should he stay.

Schweinsteiger has been banished to the reserve side and was not included in the Red Devils pre-season squad according to the Guardian. The 32-year-old has not played in the pre-season friendlies and Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Schweinsteiger does not feature in his plans next season.
