Former Besiktas manager Carlos Carvalhal is on the verge of guiding Sheffield Wednesday to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.
Wednesday will have to beat Hull City in the Championship play-off final to book their place in the top-flight.
Carvalhal, became the 11th manager in 15 years for the club when he took charge last June and he managed to turn around the fortunes at the club – helped by billionaire backer Dejphon Chansiri who took over the club in January 2015.
The Portuguese manager has written books on coaching including ‘Soccer – Developing a Know-How’ and likes to play attacking football.
Carvalhal coached Besiktas during a transitionary period during a financial crisis between 2011-12. Despite not winning any trophies the manager was well received by the fans and remains on good terms with the club that were crowned Turkish champions this summer.
The 50-year-old coach also manager Istanbul BB in the Turkish Super League.
