“I’d take him” – Ex-England international urges Chelsea to join Man United in race to sign Arsenal star playmaker

Mesut Ozil

Former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise has urged Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to sign Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international’s Gunners future is currently cast in doubt after failing to pen a new contract. Ozil has under five months remaining on his contract with the north London based club and could even end up leaving for free.

Wise believes Chelsea should seize upon the chance to sign the Mesut Ozil.

“I’d take him at Chelsea FC,” Wise stated live on Sky Sports during the weekend coverage.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Ozil in recent weeks.

However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that the 29-year-old will extend his stay at the north London based club.

“Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club, hopefully, we will do that very soon,” Arsenal boss Wenger was quoted as saying by Football.London.

Ozil is expected to be back in action tomorrow evening when Arsenal take on Swansea City in the Premier League.

The clash takes place at the Liberty Stadium while kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).
