Fenerbahce held talks with Leicester City over a potential move for defender Çağlar Söyüncü a source close to the Super Lig side revealed to Turkish-Football.

The Yellow Canaries want Soyuncu on loan but the Foxes are reluctant to let him leave the Premier League on a temporary move.

Additionally, the Yellow-Navy Blues would struggle to cover his wages and offer a loan fee due to their financial situation.

Soyuncu is also determined to stay at Leicester City and prove himself in the team.

Leicester have yet to decide over the future of Caglar Soyuncu and will hold a meeting with the Turkey international to discuss his future.

Foxes head coach Brendan Rodgers is keen on Soyuncu staying but his future could be determined by what happens in the transfer market.

Rodgers hinted that Soyuncu could be part of his plans next season after speaking to the Daily Record about the future of Filip Benkovic who will return from loan at Celtic: “Filip’s situation is one I’ll certainly look at. But there’s no doubt that if I want him to go out on loan again, I’d want him to go to Celtic.

“But we’ve got four really good centre-backs here with big experience in Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Caglar Soyuncu.

“Filip is a top class young player but if he goes on loan again, I’d love him to return to Celtic.”

If Harry Maguire ends up being sold Soyuncu is likely to move up the pecking order and compete for a place with Johnny Evans and Wes Morgan.

Morgan was recently handed a one-year contract extension but he is 35-years-old and approaching the end of his career.

The Foxes paid £20m for Soyuncu signing him from Freiburg over the summer. The Turkey international star has another four-years remaining on his contract.

The 22-year-old wrapped up his first season at Leicester having made eight appearances in all competitions.
