Fenerbahçe boss admits his ‘heart was pumping’ against Mersin [divider]

Fenerbahçe manager Ismail Kartal admitted his heart was pumping against Mersin as his side held onto a 1-0 win.

“My heart was pumping, I was full of adrenaline and stress,” Kartal said.

“We needed that second goal but could not get it, we kept squandering chances and Mersin kept knocking at the door. 

“One mistake, one slice of bad luck and we would have blown our lead. 

“I am just happy we won, it was a tough game. Mersin were full of confidence and they asked serious questions from us. 

“We had to make tactical changes and really prepare well for this game, it was by no means easy, Mersin are a very good side.”

Fenerbahçe are currently in second place in the Süper Lig on 32 points.

The Yellow Canaries host Başakşehir at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium next. Fenerbahçe are undefeated at home this season.
