West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that he though Fenerbahçe were worthy winners against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League Round of 32 first-leg.
Fenerbahçe beat Lokomotiv 2-0 at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium with a brace from the most unlikely of goal scorers in defensive midfielder Josef de Souza.
Bilic revealed that he watched the game and that he was impressed with the Yellow Canaries performance.
“I watched that game and Fenerbahce was way better and totally deserved to beat them,” Bilic said speaking on BT Sport.
The Croatian manager did however, make a cheeky comment afterwards that his former club Beşiktaş are still the better team.
“Of course Beşiktaş is a better team than them [Fenerbahce],” he added.
Bilic was of course the manager of Beşiktaş for two-seasons before replacing Sam Allardyce as West Ham boss over the summer.
The Black Eagles did not actually manage to beat Fenerbahçe under his stewardship but Bilic remains a popular figure among Beşiktaş fans and is credited with laying the foundations of the current side that is currently in the title race.
Beşiktaş are currently second in the Super Lig two points behind Fenerbahçe but the Istanbul giants have a game in hand over the Yellow Canaries.
