Fenerbahçe have drawn up an ambitious blueprint to bring former fan favorite Ferdi Kadıoğlu back to Istanbul, provided the Yellow Canaries navigate their UEFA Champions League play-off round tie against Olympique Lyonnais.

The Turkish international left-back, who departed for Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in a €30 million transaction in 2024, has emerged as a marquee target for the club’s late-window overhaul.

The Transfer Blueprint

According to reports from Fotomaç, Fenerbahçe management have already established initial lines of communication with both the 26-year-old fullback and Brighton officials:

  • Champions League Trigger: A concrete move is directly linked to securing a berth in the Champions League league stage by eliminating Lyon.

  • Loan Strategy: Fenerbahçe intend to propose a loan deal structured with an option to buy to bring Kadıoğlu back on initial terms.

  • Squad Restructuring: Should the deal proceed, Fenerbahçe plan to part ways with Archie Brown, entrusting the left-back responsibilities to Kadıoğlu alongside Levent Mercan.

Proven Track Record at Kadıköy

Kadıoğlu remains held in high esteem at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, having made 204 appearances and contributing 18 goals alongside 22 assists during his previous six-year stint with Fenerbahçe following his 2018 move from NEC Nijmegen.

Having logged 42 appearances in all competitions for Brighton last season, the versatile defender contractually remains bound to the Seagulls through 2028. However, a return to European football in Istanbul could pave the way for a sensational reunion if Fenerbahçe clear their European hurdle.
