Fenerbahçe is preparing for an audacious January transfer move, targeting Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier to bolster their shaky backline according to Fotomac.

The Turkish giants, eyeing both Süper Lig and Conference League glory, are determined to avoid defensive woes plaguing their championship chase.

With injuries disrupting their defensive rotation, Fenerbahçe sees Dier as the perfect solution. The English international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and according to British media, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has greenlit his January departure.

Fenerbahçe officials have already held talks with Tottenham, and reports suggest Spurs are looking for a £4 million (€5 million) transfer fee for their star defender.

Dier, who joined Tottenham in 2014, has been a mainstay, contributing 13 goals and 12 assists in 363 appearances.

However, he has made just three appearances this season playing a total of 191 minutes and does not appear to feature in the plans of Postecoglou.

His experience, versatility, and leadership qualities make him a highly desirable acquisition for Fenerbahçe. Landing Dier on loan or permanently in January would send a signal of ambition and solidify their defensive core for the crucial second half of the season.

However, Fenerbahçe will face competition for Dier’s signature. With his availability confirmed, other European clubs are sure to join the race. The coming weeks will be crucial as Fenerbahçe seeks to pull off this ambitious transfer and bolster their championship aspirations.
