Former Rangers winger Vaclav Cerny has officially completed his move to Besiktas in a deal reportedly worth €6 million, and he credits a familiar face with helping him make the decision.

Cerny, who signed a three-year contract, revealed that conversations with his former teammate, Ridvan Yilmaz, played a significant role in his transfer.

Yilmaz, a left-back, returned to Besiktas earlier this summer after his own stint at Rangers. Now, the two are reunited in Istanbul.

“I’m incredibly happy to be here,” Cerny told Besiktas’ official website. “I couldn’t wait to come here. It was a very fast process in my head… From the first moment they contacted me, I was completely sure about taking this step.”

Cerny, 27, also spoke about how positive feedback from other new teammates cemented his decision.

“Of course, before coming to Besiktas, I had the chance to talk to a few people I knew,” he said.

“I talked to Orkun Kokcu… I talked to David Jurasek, a close friend of mine from the Czech national team. I talked to Ridvan Yilmaz. We were together at Rangers last season.”

According to the winger, the conversations with these players were a key factor. “My conversations and the things they told me were very positive. I can say that with what they said, I’m completely convinced I’d like to come here.”
