Fulham have made a €20m offer for Atletico Madrid defender Caglar Soyucu according to Gianluca Di Marzio but face competition from AS Roma.

As the transfer window heats up the Giallorossi are hot on the trail of another center-back; Soyuncu.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho craves depth at the back, and Söyüncü, despite limited playing time – 6 La Liga appearances – under Simeone, fits the bill.

Roma have reportedly proposed a loan, but Atletico’s price tag could complicate matters. Premier League clubs, most notably Fulham.

The London based outfit have reportedly already offered around €20 million for the Turkish international.

Fulham have made the biggest offer so far and Roma can’t compete unless the deal falls through in which case they will try to loan Soyuncu.

Roma’s hope hinges on Söyüncü’s patience. Should the Premier League offers fail to materialize in the final days of the window, Atletico might become more open to a loan deal.

However, the lure of immediate playing time and potentially higher wages in England presents a formidable challenge.

Additionally, Soyuncu has experience playing in the Premier League as he joined Atleti from Leicester City.

The Spanish giants would stand to make a profit just six months after signing the Turkish international as a free agent.

Soyuncu meanwhile, wants playing time as he hopes to make the cut for the European Championships this summer.
