Galatasaray beat Besiktas 2-0 at the Turk Telekom Arena to move into first place in the Super Lig table.

The Lions defeated their Istanbul rivals in the derby to overtake Basaksehir – on head to head form.

Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru put the Yellow-Reds ahead on 44 minutes and Fernando doubled the home sides lead on 55 minutes.

Besiktas’ five-match win streak was put to an end in the process and they while they are still mathematically still in the title race it would take both Galatasaray and Basaksehir to drop points twice in their last three games.

The Black Eagles are currently four points behind Basaksehir and Galatasaray.

The Lions take on Rizespor away next in the league, Besiktas meanwhile face a tricky trip against Trabzonspor.
