Club Officials Swore Not To Tell Wives About Everton Transfer Deal In Act Of Secrecy Over Super Lig Move

Galatasaray completed the transfer of Henry Onyekuru in complete secrecy according to club president Mustafa Cengiz.

Onyekuru arrived in Istanbul unannounced last month, undergoing his Galatasaray medical and reaching an agreement without the knowledge of the local media.

Turkish-Football reported at the time that the even agent who had Onyekuru’s mandate in Turkey did not have knowledge the Nigeria international had made the trip.

It turns out Cengiz did not even tell his wife, in fact he ordered manager Fatih Terim and club official Abdurrahim Albayrak to do the same.

The club president’s wife was not best pleased with secrets being kept from her but Cengiz believes he made the right decision.

“The Henry Onyekuru transfer was completed in complete secrecy, I did not even tell my wife,” Cengiz said.

“I told Fatih and Abdurrahim to do the same.

“My wife was not best pleased when she found out and got a bit annoyed but that is what happens.”

The 21-year-old ended up joining on a one-year loan, Everton made €800,000 from the deal.
