The Lions did have a plan B if either transfer collapsed after Schalke 04 forward Franco Di Santo traveled to Istanbul after reaching an agreement in principle with the Super Lig giants.
Galatasaray have however, given up their pursuit of Di Santo after signing Diagne and Mitroglou.
The Yellow-Reds are currently 2nd in the Super Lig, six points behind league leaders Basaksehir.
