The defeat saw Galatasaray crash out of the competitions but they will play in the Europa League due to finishing the group in third place.

Copenhagen secured second place in Group A of the Champions League and advanced to the round of 16, while Manchester United were eliminated after losing at home to Bayern Munich and finishing the group last.

The Lions would have booked a place in the next round of the Champions League had they beat Copenhagen away but it ended up being the only game in the group they failed to score in.

Galatasaray ended up with five points after six games while Copenhagen ended up with seven after their victory over the Turkish giants.

All league football in Turkey has been suspended following an incident in the Super Lig on Monday, when MKE Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca punched referee Halil Umut Meler in the face after his team conceded a late equaliser.
